Say the words, “math conference,” and fashion is probably not the first thing that pops into your head (or the second, or third…). We’ve probably all been to our share of industry conferences and events and been overwhelmed by the sheer number of polo shirts and pleated khaki pants. This weekend I attended a conference for undergraduate students in Oklahoma City on knot theory presented by Colin Adams, who is a prominent mathematician. I had loads of fun and learned a lot. And while I saw plenty of faded jeans and math club t-shirts to be seen (17 to be exact–I counted them), I did see some fashion that really stood out. There was one particularly stylish trio of ladies from Georgetown University. Outside during an activity, their outerwear made me take notice, especially the grey false plain coat in the center, and the dramatically hooded coat on the left. I also saw some funky accessories and pops of color that caught my eye.
