Cute, Comfortable Peep-toe Wedges

I spent yesterday cleaning and doing laundry in preparation for the upcoming holiday week, so I didn’t leave the house at all yesterday. Hence, no outfit post today (unless you all really have a burning need to see my pajamas, which I doubt). But I thought I might write about one of my favorite pairs of shoes I’ve recently found. For the record, I’m not a shoe gal at all. I will always want to spend my fashion budget on other things, but I’ve come to realize that the right shoes can really take an outfit up a notch (or bring it down), so I’ve put some time and energy into finding comfortable, cute options. Because I am a student, I am walking around a large urban campus at least five days a week. Comfort is first and foremost. One brand that I love and was introduced to through YouLookFab is Me Too. Every season they come out with at least two or three really good looking options, and I would categorize them as a “comfort” brand because have built in cushioning. They also have rubberized soles, which makes it nice for walking on linoleum and cement floors without slipping around. My most recent purchase from that brand is the Ska.

I wear these shoes constantly. For the record, I have semi-fussy feet, so I have a hard time with lots of peep-toe shoes because the hole where my toe sticks out tends to rub on my big toe and I get a blister. The first time I wore these, that’s what happened, and I was so disappointed. But a few days later I decided to give them another shot and they were great! I haven’t had a problem with them since and have even walked 1+ mile at a time in them. I realize some of you are in colder climates and peep-toes are the last thing on your mind, but I thought I might write about them now because they are on sale at a lot of online retailers. Zappos and Endless have them in stock (Zappos is a bit more expensive, but they have a broader range of sizes available), and I found them in silver and gold at an online store called Lori’s Shoes out of Chicago. If you are like me and tend to buy things on sale off-season and save them, you may want to take advantage. I always get a ton of compliments when I wear them, and they’re comfy. Can’t beat that.

The Ska is available in silver, gold, yellow, magenta, green, bone, and black patents and retails for $55-$70 on sale right now.

  • Pretty! I never wear peeptoes since they usually seem uncomfortable for my big toe, too. Or they are very narrow in the foot and squish my toes together too much. Ouch! To top it off, I have very long toes and often get unwanted ‘toe cleavage’, or my second toe sticks out further than my big toe in peep toed shoes…but I really like these- and since you said they are comfy, that’s a bonus!

  • I would have rather spent my money on something other than shoes. I too suffer from fussy feet and always butcher my shoes after a few wears (I guess I’m heavy footed). But recently, I’ve been investing in some new shoe styles. Not only can the right shoe raise an outfit’s wow factor, but it can also do wonders to enhance your figure.

Shizzknits, I know what you mean about the rubbing and squishing on peep-toe shoes, since I often have the same problem. These might be a good option to try out (especially if you go with Zappos, since you get free shipping and returns). In my experience, the Me Too brand generally tends to stretch with wear. I don’t have wide feet per se, but they are definitely not narrow, and I haven’t had a problem with these being too restrictive or rubbing around my forefoot at all. They do take a little breaking in though, maybe one or two wears (it was only one for me). My second toe is longer than my big toe and sticks out of the hole too. I think it’s awesome, you should be proud of your toes. :D

Maddy, would you let me know if you find any cute, “dressier” flats that would be good for walking around all day? I’m always on the lookout for those kinds of things.

  • Those yellow peep toe flats are incredible

    So pretty.. sexy…. shiny!
