These are officially my favorite pants ever.

I found them on sale at J. Crew for $19.99 one day and despite the fact that I had no idea what I would wear them with, I KNEW it was meant to be. Because the pants are such a statement, and due to my short legs and the cut of the trousers, I got them hemmed for heels, which I think is most flattering. Unfortunately, this precludes me from wearing them to school because I have yet to find heels that I can comfortably wear while walking around all day, but I take every opportunity I can to wear them on the weekends. I also find I am building a collection of tops specifically to wear with the pants. Has this ever happened with any of you?

The trousers are J. Crew, the t-shirt is from Express, the denim jacket is BCBG, the ring is from Harold’s, shoes are Cole Haan, and sunglasses are Ray Bans.

It was hot and muggy again today. When that happens, the only way to go is a knit dress. I was indoors pretty much all day, so I layered a denim jacket over the dress to add interest and keep me warm in the air conditioning. I wore my seashell necklace because it is one of the only long necklaces I own, but it’s kind of summery, so it may be time to put it away for the year. When I stepped outside in the evening after my classes, I felt a lovely cool breeze blowing, so I am very hopeful that tomorrow I will be able to wear a jacket, or at least a cardigan. I’m also getting my hair cut, which I’m REALLY looking forward to. I may try something different with my bangs.

The jacket is BCBG, the dress is Curtsey, the necklace is J. Crew, and the shoes are Clarks.

One way I like to make a dress more casual is by throwing a denim jacket over it. This works for lots of items in my closet that at times I feel are “too dressy” for the occasion. I have a white jacket and a blue denim one, and without them, I would have a huge hole in my wardrobe. If you don’t currently have a denim jacket, I would highly recommend getting one. There are lots of styles available now, so if the traditional boxy western jacket isn’t your thing, there is a good chance you could find something else. As you can see, the jacket in this outfit is more of a motorcycle style. I have found a slightly cropped style works best with pants and dresses or skirts, so look for one that hits at or slightly above the hip.

The jacket is BCBG, the dress is J. Crew, the belt is from Martin + Osa, and the shoes are Naturalizers, swapped from my friend Tanya.
